Dream home? Could be a health nightmare…

Recently, news broke about a mainland influencer who rented a luxury apartment for over 60,000 RMB per month. Shortly after moving in, they developed severe coughing, sore throat, conjunctivitis, and allergies. Later, they hired a professional agency to test the apartment and found that the formaldehyde levels were nearly three times higher than the national standard. Now, they’re facing hefty medical bills to treat their condition...

It’s still unclear whether the source of the formaldehyde was the apartment’s original decoration or furniture the influencer bought themselves. But one thing is certain: even with two formaldehyde-removing air purifiers running continuously, the air quality still didn’t meet safe standards...

So, if you don’t want your health ruined by formaldehyde—a substance classified by the World Health Organization as carcinogenic—here’s what you should do before moving into a home you plan to live in long-term:

- Hire professionals to test just how severe the formaldehyde levels are

- Check whether the air purifiers on the market are truly capable of breaking down formaldehyde effectively

- Seek expert advice on whether additional formaldehyde reduction methods are needed, such as applying LBS Nano Catalyst spray to furniture. This technology decomposes formaldehyde and other VOCs through contact with air, requiring no light source
